PHOTO-HAIGA
Traditionally, haiga is a style of Japanese brush and ink painting, typically painted by haiku poets (haijin), and often accompanied by a haiku poem. Like the poetic form it accompanies, haiga is based on simple, yet often profound, observations of the everyday world.
In modern haiga, there is a wide range of styles and techniques used. These approaches are generally categorised in three ways: original art works, images that are almost totally digital, and photographs.
On this page, is a selection of photo-haiga, created by me using my haiku and copyright free photographs. My haiku ebook "Waters of Gold: Journeying with Basho at St Georges Lake", viewable on the "My Haiku" page of this website, contains photo-haiga where I have used my own photographs.
