Debrah Gai LewisI was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on 7 October 1955. From the age of 7 I lived and revelled in Sydney's Northern Beaches (living mainly in Warriewood) until age 19 when I departed for my first adventure overseas to the UK, Europe and the Middle East, including living and working for 6 months on a kibbutz near Tel Aviv. My subsequent overseas travels have been overland through many countries of Asia, two subsequent trips to India, and most recently, two trips to the west coast of the USA, both inspired by SoulCollage®.
I have also travelled extensively in Australia and have lived in four Australian states (NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia) and the Australian Capital Territory, for varying periods of time. I now live in Lillian Rock in the Northern Rivers Region of NSW, I have an undergraduate honours degree in Information Science (B. App. Sci. Info.) from the University of Technology, Sydney (1990) and I had a 17 year career in information management, information services and libraries, in both the private and public sectors before retiring to dedicate my life to yoga teaching and SoulCollage® facilitation. |
My Haiku
|
My love of reading and then writing haiku began in the 1980s and several of my haiku have been published in print and in online haiku journals, some under the name “Jyotimitra”, a name I no longer use.
I frequently read haiku but I wax and wane with my writing of it, sometimes going for very long periods of time without writing one. Nevertheless, I am always having haiku moments even though I may not always put the words down on paper! |
My Website
|
I have created this website to humbly share my haiku with others, fully conceding that I am a novice haijin with much to learn and hone.
I do not seek to explain or discuss haiku here on my website. There are numerous specialist websites, journals and books that do that very well. See my Links page for some useful resources. |
